About

Virginians Against the Outlying Landing Field is a civic organization dedicated to the preservation of our natural landscape, heritage, culture and a chosen way of life that has remained intact since our forbearers settled on this land 400 years ago.

We love our country, our commonwealth and the communities in which our families have lived and labored for generations.

We are grateful for the military which protects our way of life and affords us the opportunity to freely speak our opinion and to engage in civil discourse with elected officials who are chosen to represent our ideals.  Many of us served in the armed forces, have loved ones who are currently serving, or have lost someone who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect and defend our right to live in peace and freedom.

As a community, we have given much to Western Tidewater and Virginia as a whole.  Our traditional values and culture have been instrumental in shaping not only the history of the Commonwealth, but of our nation as a whole.

We ask our government and armed forces to act responsibly and thoughtfully when determining the fate of a people that fund and support their endeavors.

Therefore, we encourage the United States Navy, as well as those who represent the taxpayers of Virginia, to resolve to utilize our existing military installations to the fullest before they permanently alter the landscape, culture and traditions of one of the most culturally and historically significant regions of our great state.
